The Challenge
Over the last three years, international terrorism and “mega-terrorism” has become increasingly visible. Organized Crime threats are becoming more and more tangible. Threats against large-scale installations and events are increasing and the use of transportation systems for the purpose of terrorism has increased too. The key to effective prevention and response to any security threat is effective training
ATHENA GS3 provides a high quality and standard of security training. Training programs are unique in that all aspects of security are integrated into the normal routines and procedures of the various functions of an organization. We develop procedures and integrate technologies such that security enhances everyday life, rather than burdens it.
Security Training Program – General
The security training solution offered by ATHNA GS3 is a tailor-made customized program that:
- Addresses the needs of an individual through a modular development process
- Ensures that the need to know content is presented and mastered
- Integrates the training program with other clients' operational elements and outputs
- Optimizes instructor staffing and access to subject matter experts
- Provides a delivery schedule that addresses the needs of the client
- Utilizes feedback from job performance to enhance the validated training program
The decision on the most appropriate media and instructional method for security training is an outcome of experience in security related events, security training, analysis and development processes. Two media and instructional methods are available:
- The best suited for the provision of security training has been proven time and time again to be stand up instruction, also known as Conventional Instruction (CI). CI in the proposed programs is divided between classroom time and physical / hands-on time.
- Computer Based Training (CBT) has been found to be a less effective tool due to the lack of inter-personal contact between the experienced instructors and the students. This interaction is a key factor when dealing with threats to life and reactions to such threats. Security is not a technical or procedural knowledge that is to be taught to staff but rather a human factor based model that requires learning to use all senses when dealing with threats to ourselves and to our surroundings. However, CBT is an option since it allows shortening the time away from duty.
Training materials include course descriptions/syllabi, instructor guides, student handouts, exercise/test guides, and instructional test specifications. The training materials are developed using common application software (i.e. Microsoft Office, FrameMaker, Authorware for CBT authoring).
The proposed solution will create an integrated seamless security methodology allowing for a common understanding, common language, and common reaction to threats amongst all levels and functions.
