Recent attacks of terrorism have struck at the heart of the free world. The attacks instilled fear into the population and authorities, as the realization dawned that airplanes can themselves be a destructive weapon against strategic targets and civilian populations. Furthermore, the ease with which the terror attacks were implemented has shaken public confidence and led to calls for a major upgrade in aviation security. It was a frightful reminder of what the Israeli aviation industry has known and had to contend with for many years.
The events of September 11, 2001, demonstrated in remarkable detail the vulnerabilities of our airports and airlines. ATHENA GS3 has taken the lessons from that day and incorporated them into its dozens of years’ prior experience in the aviation and transportation industries to develop the most advanced, relevant security strategies and programs worldwide. These measures have been implemented in airports and with airlines in over 60 countries by a veteran group of aviation security personnel, including the former chief of security for El Al Airlines.
Since 9/11 ATHENA GS3 has assembled a rich variety of successful worldwide security projects, with leading airline companies, major airports, European aircraft industries and leading Aviation business corporations in the post 9/11 environment.
In testimony to its effectiveness, Athena has been chosen to lead several technology focused initiatives in the SAFEE Project (Security of Aircraft in the Future European Environment) alongside Airbus, BAE Systems, Thales, EADS, ONERA, BAM, The National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR) and ENERTEC. ATHENA GS3 has also performed cabin crew training for Northwest Airlines, and has consulted for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the Ronald Reagan National Airport, and the Allegheny County Pittsburgh International Airport, and many more.
